I've been in hibernation!! Well, in my art studio that is! Losing wifi for a few days has its advantages! It's really quite amazing how much can be achieved when one doesn't have the distraction of the internet!!
I spent this morning in Plymouth at my second home, my framers! I've created some mini originals for my exhibition in May and here they are being embellished with some silver leaf. This creates a lovely reflection on the water as well as adding a warm sparkle to the pieces. You are seeing them in their rawest form here - pre bind and frame!
These pieces are most satisfying to create, each a different coastal perspective and some featuring little characters. Each one is filled with an abundance of rich texture and intricate detail, just in miniature! The other great thing about these pieces is that one can usually find a teeny space in their home for one :)
These pieces are unified in colour as well as subject matter. All complementary coastal colours and natural textures we associate with the ocean. I'm sure some landscapes and other surprises will appear in miniature too though!
As well as these pieces, I'm also working on a surprise drinks piece, which is nearly finished! Keep your eyes peeled for that one! Coming soon!!!
I love a bit of suspense!
So all in all a busy few days and of course now it's half term!! So it's not all work, work, work! Between Storm Dennis visits, I'm managing to get the odd breezy beach walk in and take some time to enjoy a bit of time off with the family :)
