Tomorrow is Armed Forces Day 2019!
This piece of textile artwork, created a couple of years ago, was inspired by this annual event! 'Fun On The Hoe' portrays the Plymouth celebrations that take place each year on our city waterfront to celebrate the men and women who make up our armed forces, past and present.
There's always a huge turnout for this action packed day of family fun. This year we have the excitement of HMS Queen Elizabeth in dock, having arrived a couple of days ago. There'll be action above the water, under the water and in the sky! The red arrows always provide a spectacle, flaunting their tricks!
I've tried to capture the colour and fun of this wonderful celebration and of course the poppies representing those military personnel who lost their lives in war.
Hope you can make it to this special occasion and one of Plymouth's biggest events of the year.
This piece is available as a limited edition print. 20% of the sale proceeds of this piece are donated to St Luke's Hospice in Plymouth, where one of these prints proudly hangs. You may have noticed the Forget Me Not flowers in the pic, representing the Forget Me Not garden on the hoe.
