Do you see what I see??

Do you see what I see??

I just had to share this bit of old crumpled copper with you. It's a piece of art in itself. Look carefully...

Copper art by Jackie Gale, Textile Artist

I see a gorgeous sunset over a shimmering ocean!

Once again, a demonstration of the beauty of age.

Copper is one of the many materials I love and use within my work.. the older and more discoloured, the better! I love the tactile experience of my creative process and you wouldn't immediately think of metal as having much tactile quality but metals can be incredibly tactile. Think of rusty iron, hammered steel, antique brass, corrugated metals such as this piece of copper.

Textile art is not all fabric and stitch. It's such a versatile artform with endless possibilities. Wood veneer, discarded plastic and shell fragments are more examples of materials I use. This is just one of the reasons I love this style of art so much. The possibilities are endless and I'm always on the lookout for beauties such as this.
Now time to find a home for it!! I'm feeling something autumnal for this.. it will come to me :)
