After a wonderful break away, I unlocked the art studio today for the first time in a couple of weeks. I've a mountain of paperwork, lots of new stock to sort and a huge tidy up to do BUT it's great to be back in my creative four walls!
August is usually a fairly quiet month for me creative wise. School holidays are here and this is a month in which I slow down and enjoy some routine free family time. That's not to say I don't have jobs to do in the studio and here I am! The beauty of working from home is that I can pop in and do a little sorting and planning (and blogging!) here and there, enjoying an occasional fix of creativity to keep the 'cogs' turning.
I was pretty busy creating prior to my trip and things get a little messy when I'm on deadlines! Tidying up takes a back seat and of course I'm now paying the price of not being able to find anything! Nothing like a good tidy up and clear out thought. In fact, as I'm going through the studio, I'm finding so many artists proofs, little one off pieces and a few bits of merchandise that I'm inclined to have a studio clearance sale soon. Watch this space!
I do have an exhibition to look forward to later in the month, this one being on my doorstep! The RNLI art sale is Newton Ferrers is always an event I always enjoy and it's great to catch up with Devon artists I don't get to see very often. It was such a pleasure to be invited once again as the RNLI is a charity I have supported through my art for many years.
I'll be exhibiting a mixture of originals and prints at this event and although the artists aren't in attendance throughout the weekend, I will be popping in and out! Not that hard when you live 10 minutes away!
So all in all, I'm very happy to be sat in my 'happy place' today! In fact, I feel like I have the best job in the world right now. :)
