My latest textile artwork is of a place the Devon folk will certainly recognise! 'Wembury Days'! A bright and jolly image of a place much loved by the locals and not so locals!!
This is the second Wembury piece I've created - the first edition has almost sold out! This time I decided to include the beautiful St Werberghs church. I really can see why so many people choose to get married here, with those beautiful views of the ocean and its iconic Mewstone.
This lovely village in South Devon really is very special. With it's vast swirling rock pools, lovely unspoilt beach, perfect waves for the little ones (and big ones) and fabulous views, especially from the coast path. How lucky am I to live so close to this! I used to take my kids here so much when they were young, so this piece really holds some special memories for me.
As you can see, I've also added a view of Ramehead Peninsula in the background. Not entirely geographically correct but thats the beauty of artistic license!!
It was also lovely to revisit some floral work - it's been a while. This little spot is where I often sit and in fact I recently sat there sketching this very piece!!
'Wembury Days' is now available to buy as a limited edition print. The original is sold. Here's the link for more details about the piece..
This piece is part of my South West Collection - lots of my favourite places in Devon and Cornwall, captured in textile art. I think I will be adding to this collection forever!!
