I thought I would invite you to take a peek inside my art studio, especially now it's had a much needed makeover! I am now enjoying what will be probably be a brief spell of lovely tidiness!! It's a very different story once I have a big piece in progress - you can't even see the floor for fabric and thread usually! and pins!!!
I'm so lucky to have this wonderful light and airy space to work in and conveniently it's in my back garden! It's taken me a while to work out how to place my work areas to make the most of the light and at the same time display artwork for visitors to see.
My biggest challenge is material storage. My precious fabrics and textile collection is constantly growing and I've had to have another shed built just to store it!
As you can see from the first picture, I have a number of prints and originals in the studio, patiently waiting for homes! Visitors are always welcome, although it's always best to make an appointment. There are days I have to break away from my cosy workspace and visit framers, printers and of course, buy vital art supplies!
My studio is in Yealmpton, South Hams, Devon. Those not so local often call in during their holidays, which is always lovely. I often put my tools down for school holidays but visitors are always welcome to come, over if I'm here.
I'm rarely alone here - pigeons on the roof tapping away, pheasants coming up to the door to have a nose and of course, Percy, my cockapoo, is allowed in if he hasn't got wet paws! Oh and if I'm really lucky, our little resident robin perches on the windowsill to say hello too! Of course, by the time I've picked up the phone to take a pic, he's gone!
On the whole, it's not a bad place at all to spend my day!
