Moody Blues…

Most people associate my textile art with vibrant colours and sunny skies but every now and then I like to throw something a little moody out there…

This is a piece I recently created - in fact, it’s a sister piece to one I did a few months ago. As you can see, it’s a moonlit sky as opposed to my normal sunlit ones!

I find lighthouses so alluring, especially at night. I’d love to actually live in one - another fantasy home (I have many). I love creating these petite pieces and the challenge of capturing a story in a 6” space. For me this image is evocative, peaceful, intriguing. The ocean for me is just as beautiful at night as the daytime and I realised whilst creating this that I do not do enough pieces like this!!

Living near the sea cannot fail to provide inspiration. We have some beautiful lighthouses along the coast. This piece isn’t inspired by any particular one - I love them all!

Here it is in it’s frame. I call these ‘chunky minis’ as the statement double wooden frame on a small image is so effective, adding much more depth.

This one is available to buy on my website. You can also visit my studio in Devon if you’re not too far away! (Address in page footer).
