A New Magnolia Collection

Spring has arrived and so has a new collection of textile art magnolia. Once I started, I simply couldn’t stop! The magnolia has been glorious this year and I’ve so enjoyed immersing myself in buds and petals, those glorious creamy waxy petals :))

I began small and I also began with paintwork! This petite original has an acrylic background which gave me freedom to create the actual background I was seeking. A fresh spring blue sky with just the right tones allowing those bold buds to stand out on parade. This is ‘Spring In Sight!’.

I then moved onto a larger version of branches in the sky. This one showcases those stunning magnolia flowers at full bloom, with just a few blossom buds on their way. I also couldn’t resist adding a little wild life to this one. Again, is it just me or are the butterflies more beautiful than ever this year?!

Now this one was rather challenging but I had this image in my head from the beginning and it actually turned out even better than I had hoped. I saw a tree swing on a Magnolia Cleopatra just like this some time ago and was desperate to recapture it. ‘A Quiet Moment’ seemed the prefect title as I really could take a quiet moment under this tree and enjoy the peace the image conveys.

Onto ‘Serenity’..

The one could almost be described as a magnolia study. A delicate branch of magnolia on a soft background, showcasing the beauty of those flowers. There is something so peaceful and timeless about these flowers and this piece really speaks of my love for this beautiful flower.

Finally a fun still life piece featuring Magnolia Stellata - in a mug!! Fun happy colours which go perfectly with the quirky happy shape of these petals.

All of these works can be found on my originals and floral prints pages on my website. All except Stellata and Serenity are available as limited edition prints.

They can also be viewed at my studio in South Devon. I hope you enjoy the collection as much as I enjoyed creating it…
