Sustainability

As a textile artist, I work with fabric every day, so I care deeply about where my materials come from, how they are used and what happens to them when they are no longer needed. I believe beautiful textile art can be created thoughtfully, without creating unnecessary waste. Wherever possible, I make considered choices about the fabrics I work with, the way I package my artwork and how I can reduce the amount of plastic I use.

Plastic-free packaging

I aim to use plastic-free packaging wherever possible.

When you order from me, I avoid unnecessary plastic and choose packaging materials with the environment in mind. I want the same care that goes into creating your artwork to continue through every stage of its journey, right up to the moment it arrives at your door.

Compostable protective packaging

Textile artwork needs to be carefully protected while it is being posted or shipped.

Where suitable, I use compostable protective packaging instead of conventional plastic bubble wrap. This helps keep your artwork safe in transit while reducing my reliance on traditional single-use plastics.

Please check any disposal instructions supplied with your order, as compostable materials can require particular conditions and local facilities may vary.

Less waste, more creativity

I work carefully to make the most of the materials I have.

Offcuts and smaller pieces of fabric are often saved for future projects rather than simply thrown away. Scraps can become another colour, texture, layer or tiny detail in a new piece of work.

I prefer to think of them not as waste, but as creative possibilities waiting for the right project.

My sustainability promise

I don't believe sustainability has to be perfect to be worthwhile. For me, it is about making thoughtful choices, continuing to learn and finding better ways of working wherever I can.

As an independent textile artist, I regularly consider the materials I use, how I package my work and where I can reduce unnecessary waste.

My commitment is simple:

Use what already exists where I can.
Reduce unnecessary waste.
Avoid unnecessary plastic packaging.
Choose compostable alternatives where appropriate.
Create thoughtfully and responsibly.

Every piece of textile art I make is created by hand, with care. I want that care to extend beyond the finished artwork - to the materials I choose, the way each piece is packaged and the impact of my creative practice as a whole.
