Introducing Ernest….

…Ernest Waddlemore, to be precise!

The latest addition to my textile bird collection is a rather handsome Indian Runner duck. I never quite know whether my birds will turn out to be ladies or gentlemen until they're finished and I can finally see their faces. Ernest is most definitely a gentleman - which, of course, makes him a drake!

I've always loved these wonderfully energetic (and slightly highly strung!) birds. Drakes are actually known for being friendlier than the females and, when kept in bachelor groups, can be wonderfully sociable. My Ernest is exceptionally friendly, of course. 😊

I've surrounded Ernest with cheerful wildflowers, which seemed only fitting. While ducks do have their favourites—particularly roses and marigolds—they're not especially fussy and will happily nibble their way through almost any flowers they come across!

Here he is...

Here’s the original piece in it’s handsome new bespoke frame.

Well Ernest will soon have some more friends as I continue to add to my feathered family.
